How old do you have to be to take a course?
We have age limits for our courses. The age requirement is listed for each course. We count the year you turn that age. In other words, if the age limit is 15, you must turn 15 or have already turned 15 this year to be eligible for the course. We have age limits to ensure that our group activities are as enjoyable as possible for everyone participating in the course. Being able to swim is a requirement regardless of age.
Do you have to know how to swim?
Yes, you must know how to swim and be able to swim 200 meters in deep water.
Is all the equipment included?
Yes, if you take a course with us, all the equipment you need is included, including a wetsuit (of course, you're welcome to bring your own wetsuit).
What do I need to bring with me?
Clothes appropriate for the weather, a good attitude, sunscreen, and swimwear.
Where do people gather for the course?
The center is located at Tångkörarvägen 17 in Apelviken, Varberg. Unless you receive further instructions, this is where you should meet before the course begins. Please arrive on time.
Are there changing rooms and showers?
Yes, at our center in Apelviken, there are changing rooms and basic showers.
What happens if there's no wind?
If the weather isn’t on our side, we may have to cancel the course. However, keep in mind that for certain courses, it doesn’t have to be particularly windy for it to be a good course. Very strong winds may also force us to cancel. The same applies if there is a thunderstorm or a strong offshore wind. Safety always comes first. We communicate through our booking system—so please be extra careful when filling out your information.
Why aren't there any available appointment times?
We post courses once we have a course “setup” that works. Staff, other events, and the weather are all factors that influence this. We do our best to plan as far in advance as possible. Since some courses are more dependent on “perfect” weather, we post those with relatively short notice. For surf and wingfoil courses, you can sign up for an SMS list to receive information about course start dates.
Can I sign up for a surfing class on July xx?
Unfortunately, we don’t have waves every day in Varberg. Waves are created by the wind. Unless the wind is blowing at over 7–8 m/s from the south to the northwest, there usually aren’t any surfable waves. We therefore can’t schedule surfing lessons more than 2–3 days in advance—until we see the forecast.
Can I book a private lesson?
Subject to availability, we offer private lessons. Contact henrik@surfers.se for pricing and availability.
Can I sign up for a class for the whole family?
If time permits, a family can book a class or activity. Contact henrik@surfers.se for pricing and availability. Please note that, as with other activities, everyone must be able to swim.
Can we make reservations for companies, bachelorette parties, bachelor parties, etc.?
Absolutely. We have plenty of events for companies and groups of friends. The day's weather will determine the activity. Contact henrik@surfers.se for pricing and availability.
Can I use my wellness allowance?
Many employers accept our courses as part of their wellness program. Check with your employer.
Wish List for Kiteboarding and Surfing—How Does It Work?
Some of our courses need to be held under the right conditions to ensure a great experience for you as a participant. Surfing courses require waves, and wing courses require just the right amount of wind. That’s why we post these courses on our booking page with relatively little advance notice. We simply post courses when we see that the forecast is right. To save you from having to check the booking page every day, we have an “express interest” system. You simply fill out a form with your email and cell phone number. When we open up courses, we send a text message to those who have registered. We also usually post info on our social media channels. @surfersvarberg – after that, it’s first come, first served to book your spot on the booking page.
I haven't received a booking confirmation
If you haven't received a confirmation of your reservation, check your spam folder. If you can’t find it in your spam folder either, contact us at info@surfers.se. Be extra careful when making your reservation to ensure you enter the correct email address and phone number. A misspelled email address will prevent the confirmation from reaching you.

Partners in another city:

Surfbolaget – Kitesurfing courses in Varberg and Åsa.

Behind Surfbolaget are Erik O. and Sidner, two deeply passionate kitesurfers whose lives and work are defined by the wind and the waves. From our base in Rågelund, a true hidden surfing mecca on Sweden’s west coast, we proudly run one of Sweden’s largest and most highly regarded kitesurfing schools.

Our journey together as partners began in Åre. Erik, with a solid background in sailing, was already running a kitesurfing school there. We were both already experienced kitesurfers—Sidner with a background in windsurfing and Erik in sailing. When an unfortunate hand injury temporarily limited Erik’s ability to handle everything the school entailed on his own, we found the perfect solution in joining forces. We quickly realized that our combined knowledge, our different backgrounds, and our shared vision provided an ideal foundation not only for running the business but also for developing it together. We clicked right away, and the decision to join forces felt like a no-brainer.

Today, we run Surfbolaget from Rågelund with a clear vision: to share the incredible sense of freedom and joy that kitesurfing brings. We offer professional kitesurfing courses for all skill levels, from those very first exciting steps on land to advanced riding and technique training on the water. Our goal is for every student to have a safe, fun, and enriching experience in Rågelund’s fantastic conditions or at other carefully selected spots, such as the unique sandbar at Vendelsöarna.

For us, Surfbolaget is more than just a school; it’s a vibrant community hub in the heart of Rågelund, a place where a passion for kitesurfing is shared and new friendships are formed. We place great emphasis on safety, quality, and personal commitment in everything we do.

Whether you’re just curious about trying kitesurfing or want to take your riding to the next level, you’re warmly welcome to join us at Surfbolaget in Rågelund. We—Erik O. and Sidner—look forward to sharing the wind and waves with you!
