*MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a safety technology used in helmets to reduce the risk of brain damage in the event of oblique blows to the head. The technology consists of a low-friction layer inside the helmet that allows the helmet to rotate slightly in relation to the head. This helps to reduce the rotational forces that can otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
